About
Born in Atlanta and raised in Canton, Connecticut, Preston Cherouny has lived a life grounded in family, faith, and service. A graduate of The Avon Old Farms School and Skidmore College, where he earned his B.A. in American Studies, Preston’s formative years instilled in him a love for teamwork, community, and continuous self-improvement. In 1992, he moved to Washington, DC, where he married his wife Merrell Redway in 1993 at St. John’s Church—now the very place where he serves as Chief Operating Officer. Since joining the church staff in 2017, Preston has been instrumental in its growth and stewardship, overseeing daily operations, finances, and community initiatives. Outside of work, Preston is an avid golfer and active member of the University of Maryland Golf Course and Crunch Gym in Friendship Heights. He is also a dedicated parishioner at St. John’s, finding fulfillment in helping others and fostering a welcoming environment for all. In 2025, he made charitable contributions to the Avon Old Farms School and Friends of the University of Maryland, supporting education and athletics—two lifelong passions. Preston’s approach to life reflects his belief in humility, balance, and perseverance: valuing people, learning from setbacks, and finding joy in the process rather than just the result.
